Its track has been voted by the prestigious “Runner's World UK” magazine as one of the 50 greatest races on earth, making it a desirable destination for runners around the world. In 2018, British ultra-runner Lee Grantham, who held the 2017 world record for 100-km ultramarathon, competed in the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon.

Unique features of Halong Bay Heritage Marathon
The Halong Bay Heritage Marathon has its running tracks certified by the World Athletics (formerly known as the International Association of Athletics Federations, or IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Results at the marathon are used as a benchmark for runners to qualify for registration for Abbott World Marathon Majors' 6 largest running system on the planet including Boston, New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo and Berlin.
The marathon is one of the very few races in the high-performance competition system of the Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Athletics Federation.
The Halong Bay Heritage Marathon 2022 will welcome runners with a completely new, fully blocked running track without crossing Bai Chay bridge, and the elevation gain approaching zero. Running on the most beautiful coastal route in Quang Ninh province and watching right on the track Ha Long Bay, one of the world’s 7 wonders and the pride of Vietnam, will make runners excited and make their best efforts.
Ha Long weather in November is cool, with temperatures ranging between 17-22 degrees Celsius, ideal for jogging, promising to help runners set new PRs.
The marathon is the largest international race in Vietnam’s northern region, often drawing a large number of foreign runners and which has constantly been rising each year. This is an opportunity to interact with professional runners.
