VPBank Hanoi Marathon Completes Training Volunteers
02/03/2022 - 12:30

The Race Organizing Committee (ROC) of the VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021 has completed training for 230 people in the Volunteer Team ahead of the March 6 race.

The team, including managers and volunteers, will actively support 600 runners to compete at the VPBank Hanoi Marathon, Vietnam's leading professional race, on the Full Marathon (42,195 km) track reserved for the 31st SEA Games marathon.

The volunteers selected by the ROC have had experience with this important job in many domestic races and especially, there are runners among them.

The whole team is divided into 3 main groups to be in charge of the running track, refreshment points and the Start and Finish venues.

The training program completed on February 27 was divided into 3 online sessions because of the epidemic, including disseminating knowledge and Q&As. Volunteers were grouped and they exchanged information internally.

Although it was not as convenient as in previous years seasons due to having to work online, the ROC had arranged to send full documentation in advance to the volunteers to make sure all of them have a good grasp of their task.

In addition to the assigned tasks, managers and team leaders constantly encouraged and interacted in small groups to strengthen cohesion and improve the bond among members. In addition, managers and team leaders have always been closely monitoring volunteers who are, have been and may be infected with coronavirus in order to devise an alternative plan.

Referring to the solutions when someone is detected positive for COVID-19 during the race, Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, Manager of the Volunteer Team, said: “The ROC always has a plan to replace members of the same team in cross teams, and have a reserve of volunteers available to ensure that in any situation all these positions are fully taken and the job executed well.”

Veteran runner Pham Phuong Thao from the “CAMPHA RUNNERS - CPR14” running club, who will experience the marathon for the first time as a volunteer, shared: "Although CPR14 is nearly 200 km away, there are 6 people from our club who will join the race as volunteers, we are very proud of this work”.

Runner Dang Quoc Thanh of TPR Thong Nhat Park Runners Club, who was lucky to get a chance of testing the March 6 running track, sent his best wishes to the runners and pledged to focus on ensuring the safety of the track as well as other aspects of the race to reach the highest quality.

The ROC would like to thank the volunteers who are quietly contributing efforts to complete preparatory work for the top-race VPBank Hanoi Marathon 2021.

Good health and strong mentality to all who will accompany the runners on the March 6 Race!
