A Running Track On Can Tho's Historical ‘Lo Vong Cung’ Road
Lo Vong Cung (Arc-shaped Road), dated back to the time of Vietnam's resistance war against the French, is a route in the shape of a bow running along Can Tho river bank, surrounding almost Can Tho’s entire inner city, starting from Cai Rang bridge and going through the districts of Ninh Kieu, Phong Dien and O Mon.
During the resistance war against the Americans, this was the ring of fire in the enemy's defense area to protect the central headquarters of tactical zone IV, Tra Noc airport and the U.S. and South Vietnamese military representatives in Can Tho.
The place has witnessed fierce battles, marking many resounding victories of our army and people. Typically, the battle and victory of Ong Hao in Truong Long commune of Phong Dien district left more than 600 enemy casualties, many weapons and military equipment were seized.
In particular, Lo Vong Cung is also a place to transfer troops, a front-line military medical station and a place to hide weapons to help our army and people steadfastly fight and maintain the revolutionary base to serve as a springboard to attack and liberate Can Tho in 1975.
